History
Redwood City 2020 was formed in 1991 (as Redwood City 2000) when the City of Redwood City, San Mateo County, Redwood City School District and Sequoia Union High School District decided to join forces to work together to better serve residents of Redwood City and North Fair Oaks. In 1995, in a community planning effort sponsored by Redwood City 2000, over 250 active community members came together to create a vision and plan for the future. Since that time, Redwood City 2020 has been working to make the community's evolving vision a reality. Each of the “core partners” of the collaborative contributes $25,000/year to support its infrastructure, initiative development and evaluation. Staff members for RWC 2020 include a half-time executive director and administrative assistant. Both provide support and assistance to lead staff members in the various RWC 2020 initiatives. The City of Redwood City serves as the fiscal sponsor for RWC 2020 and Redwood City School District provides office space for RWC 2020 staff members.
