Gregg Zaire is the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Prevention Partnership Program Coordinator at Redwood City 2020, where Gregg coordinates, develops and liaises with funding agencies, faculty and administrators, contractors, parents and students to coordinate the AOD initiative throughout Redwood City and, this year, will lead the effort to expand the program throughout the Sequoia Union High School District.
As an immigrant from Jamaica, Gregg has lived in a number of states throughout the United States. Gregg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Ethnic Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in Sociology and Education from Columbia University, Teachers College.
Whether tackling stubbornly intransigent issues that involve identity and belonging, education, substance abuse, and/or employment, Gregg’s concerns and career has been spent working to remove the barriers marginalized groups often face and the structural limitations that often foreclose their dreams. As an experienced professional, Gregg has led local, regional and national youth-, education- and community development programs; he has successfully led capacity building efforts at local and regional organizations and agencies and played instrumental roles in developing comprehensive human/social services systems.
Gregg is committed to furthering social justice issues, to make positive impact the communities he serves.
