Jana Kiser

Jana brings robust leadership experience in local and global communities to her role of Executive Director of Redwood City 2020. Before joining the Redwood City 2020 team, Jana held the role of Executive Director of Global Learning, an international not-for-profit organization that she founded in 1997. Under her direction, Global Learning spearheaded projects that connected hundreds of young leaders from more than twenty-four countries and provided rigorous and relevant educational programs for more than 20,000 children in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Mexico, and the United States.

Jana’s broad range of professional experience also includes serving as a Community School Coordinator in the Redwood City School District; working as a consultant for foundations and nonprofits aiming to bridge research and practice in youth and community development; teaching preschool through university students in and out of classroom walls; and researching educational innovation and global citizenship in East Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.

Jana has a bachelor’s degree in Peace and Justice Studies from Wellesley College, a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Limerick, Ireland, and a master’s degree in International Education Policy from Harvard University. Having grown up in Puerto Rico and California, Jana has a deep appreciation for the ocean, loves to dance, and is happiest outside in the company of loved ones. She is inspired by the strength of Redwood City’s community of talented young people, dedicated families, and steadfast professional partners.
