Shannon is the 2019-2020 Shinnyo Community Impact Fellow at Redwood City 2020. Shannon is originally from Sunnyvale, California and is passionate about addressing social inequity in the Bay Area. She is excited to work with local families and organizations in the vibrant Redwood City community throughout her fellowship.

Shannon recently graduated from Stanford University, where she majored in Chemistry, and has always been interested in improving the health of vulnerable communities. During college, Shannon volunteered as a Spanish and Mandarin interpreter at the Cardinal Free Clinics which primarily serves low-income patients regardless of immigration status or financial situation. She facilitated community partnerships as a Global Leadership Summer Fellow with blueEnergy, a climate change nonprofit organization in Nicaragua. Shannon also conducted a qualitative research project with the Stanford Pediatric Advocacy Program investigating how pediatric clinics could be leveraged as a space to close the racial and income achievement gap.

Outside of work, Shannon enjoys exploring local coffee shops, tasting new foods, and singing in her car. Through her fellowship with Redwood City 2020, Shannon is grateful for the opportunity to engage in cross-sector collaboration to ensure the success and well-being of all children and families. Shannon hopes to one day apply these experiences to her aspirations of becoming a physician and public health advocate.
